• Price Method: Silk is an all – natural and pure fibre, with meticulous farming methods, labour – intensive and delicate production processes, so the price is relatively high. If the price is too low, it is likely not real silk.
• Luster and Hand – feel Method: Real silk has the property of absorbing light. It looks smooth without a mirror – like effect, and the luster is elegant and soft, like pearl luster. It feels soft and graceful. When you grab it with your hand, there will be wrinkles. When rubbed, real silk will produce a ‘silk’ sound, while other materials usually do not have this sound.
• Burn Test: When real silk is burned, there is no open flame, and it has a smell similar to burning hair. The ash is in the form of black particles and can be crushed by hand. In contrast, fake silk usually has a plastic smell when burned, and after the fire is extinguished, there will be hard rubber – like blocks at the edge.
